Norsk Materialteknisk Selskap inviterer til Nasjonal konferanse for materialteknologi 2024. Den arrangeres annethvert år vekselvis i Oslo og Trondheim, og er en bred faglig møteplass mellom industri og forskning. Det er en arena for nettverksbygging, og et utstillingsvindu for unge forskere!
Årets konseransetema er: "Materialer for det grønne skiftet: utfordringer og muligheter".

Norsk Materialteknisk Selskap invites you all to the National Materials Science conference 2024. It is arranged biannually between Oslo and Trondheim, and it is a meeting place between industry and research in the wide area of materials science. It is an arena for network and a unique opportunity for young researchers to present their work!
This year's conference topic is: "Materials for the green energy transition: challenges and possibilities".

Alf Bjørseth fikk NTNU Ærespris 2023!

Den 10. mars fikk Alf Bjørseth NTNU ærespris. Han ble nominert av prof. Marisa Di Sabatino fra NTNU og Dr Gaute Stokkan fra SINTEF.

Motivasjon for prisen:
Alf Bjørseth fullførte sin doktorgrad ved Universitet i Oslo i 1979 med sin avhandling om analysen av polysykliske aromatiske hydrokarboner (PAH) i miljøet. Han har hatt en forbløffende karriere og har sprilt en grunnleggende rolle for norsk industri. Han har blant annet vært forskkningsleder i SINTEF, forskningsdirektør i Norsk Hydro og teknologidirektør i Elkem. Han har vært med å etablere noen av de viktigste industrene og forskningsmiljøene vi har i Norge. Han etablerte ScanWafer i 1994, som senere skiftet navn til REC, og sam har vært en av de største bedriftene i Norge og i verden innen produksjon av silicon wafere for solceller. Han etablerte Norsun i 2005 som produserer monokrystallinsk silisium av høy kvalitet, og som i dag produserer noen av de mest effektive solceller og moduler på markedet. Alf Bjørset har spilt en veldig viktig rolle for norsk industri, og samtidig har han vært blant pionerene innen fornybar energi. Han har gjort en stor innsats for å etablere silisiumindustri i Norge, og har har bidratt til å skape arbeidsplasser og inspirert mange unge forskere.

Alf Bjørseth received NTNU’s Award of Honour
March 10th Alf Bjørseth received NTNU’s Award of Honour. He was nominated by prof. Marisa Di Sabatino at NTNU and Dr Gaute Stokkan at SINTEF.

The motivation of the prize:
Alf Bjørseth received his PhD at University of Oslo in 1979 with a thesis on the analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the environment. He has had an astonishing career and played a fundamental role for the Norwegian industry. He has been, among other things, head of research at SINTEF, director of research at Norsk Hydro, and director of technology at Elkem. He has helped establishing some of the most important industries and research environments we have Norway. He established ScanWafer in 1994, which later changed its name to REC and which has been one of the largest companies in Norway and in the world for the production of silicon wafers for solar cells. He established Norsun in 2005, which produces monocrystalline silicon of high quality and which makes one of the most efficient silicon solar cells and modules on the market right now. Alf Bjørseth has played a very important role for Norwegian business, while at the same time he has been among the pioneers in renewable energy. He has made a great effort to establish the silicon industry in Norway. He has contributed to creating jobs and inspired many young researchers. Based on his career and efforts in research and business, we have nominated Alf Bjørseth for NTNU`s Award of Honour.
